The December Schoolhouse Tunic class was a treat to teach. We had one person sign up, which isn’t ideal – unless you are me and you like sewing with the students. Laura also stayed to sew with us so I picked up a bottle of wine, chips, dips and we had ourselves a fun little sewing party.
The Schoolhouse Tunic is one of my all time favorite patterns to make. It’s a great beginner pattern, yet so dang versatile. I have made one in shirt length, one in tunic length and now, one in dress length.
For the dress I dropped the waist down a bit, so that it sat at my actual waist, and added length to the bottom ‘skirt’. I also added length to the sleeve, because I am not a 3/4 sleeve girl. All of these alterations were done by moving the pattern piece down by the number of inches I wanted. No rulers, graph paper or french curves – that’s how easy this Tunic is.
If I had a Valentine I would totally wear this for him, because how could anyone resist that beautiful red dress? But instead I’ll be sporting it for the Sewing Essentials Party, I mean Class on Feb 14, 6-9p Yea, that’s how I roll!
I’ll be teaching the Schoolhouse Tunic class this Sunday, February 13, 12-3p and Feb 22, 6-9p. You can sign up for either of these classes by visiting our on-line store or giving us a call.
Happy Valentines Day everyone!
